Sustainable Approach
According to FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) Sustainability is “the management and conservation of the natural resource base, and the orientation of technological and institutional change in such a manner as to ensure the attainment and continued satisfaction of human needs for present and future generations. Such sustainable development (in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors) conserves land, water, plant and animal genetic resources, is environmentally non-degrading, technically appropriate, economically viable and socially acceptable” (FAO Council, 1989).
Bioagricoop promotes the knowledge, the study and the verification of the application of the best practices of the sustainability approach in the goods production especially in the food chain production.Several tools are used to analyze the impact in relation to the three “pillars” of sustainability: the environmental, the social and the economic aspects without forgetting the “cultural” factor.
